REPURPOSING

For the repurposing project I decided to convert old blog posts into an advice column.  I wrote these blogs this past summer while I was studying abroad in London to document my first time in a foriegn country.  The orginal blog posts had tremendous room for expansion, because at the time I had never blogged before nor knew how to do it.  I decided that an advice column for first time travelers would be the best way to convey what I learned throughout my journey studying abroad and being alone in a new country.  To the right is the final draft of my repurposing project.  To access the final draft click on the image.

REPURPOSING FIRST DRAFT

The drafting process of the repurposing project was an extensive process.  I orginally wanted the format of the coulmn to be similar to one found in a magazine.  However, in the final draft I decided to change the format to resemble an online advice column that could easily be translated into print.  Although advice columns display the writer's voice, my goal was to keep an objective tone.

However, as I began the writing process, I realized that it was my voice and personal experience that was going to make the advice column unique.  My goal in this column was to reach the college female demographic to provide advice for first time study abroad students.  To access the rough draft click on the image.
